Course participants will be
introduced to:
- The theory and practice of providing
information and clinical support for clients interested in home
preparing foods or selecting “natural” commercial diets.
- The theory and practice that underlie the
clinical use of botanical and nutraceutical medications alongside of or
instead of conventional pharmaceuticals or surgery.
- Ethnomedical systems such as Traditional
Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda to understand better what these systems
are, and how they can work in a conventional veterinary medical
practice.
- The Naturopathic concept of “Leaky Gut”
or increased intestinal permeability and how this process can
contribute to the perpetuation of chronic disease.
- Clinical tools to address Leaky Gut;
Nutraceutical and Botanical Materia Medica.
- Integrative clinical protocols used by
the author in his practice to address a variety of disease
presentations.
- Seminar participants are invited to bring
difficult cases with them for Dr. Silver to use to demonstrate the
holistic approach to a patient. This interactive Q&A will take
place during the final lecture period.

Featured Speaker:
Dr. Robert J. Silver
graduated from Colorado State University in 1982 with his veterinary
degree. Prior to that he received a Masters in Mammalian
cardiopulmonary physiology, and a Bachelor in Animal Science, all three
degrees from CSU. Currently, Dr. Silver is in clinical practice in
Boulder, Colorado where he directs an integrative veterinary medical
hospital. This beautiful clinic offers a variety of conventional and
alternative services, including diagnostic ultrasound and ozone
therapy, two very different procedures that both benefit the patient
with cancer by blending the best of conventional medicine with
alternative therapies. Dr. Silver was certified in acupuncture by IVAS
in 1993, and developed the Basic Course in Chinese Herbal Medicine for
that group from 1995-2001. He was President of the Rocky Mountain
Holistic Veterinary Association in Denver for 3 consecutive terms. Dr.
Silver formulates and develops complex professional veterinary
nutraceutical formulations for RxVitamins for Pets and serves as a
consultant to Nature’s Variety, a company that produces natural and
frozen diets for pets.
